Cryotherapy
This is a completely non-invasive method that induces a selective reduction in fat cells through localised, controlled cooling in areas such as the abdomen, flanks, inner knees, inner thighs, back and arms.

Results of cryotherapy
Histological and ultrasonographic results from preclinical and clinical studies using the cryotherapy technique confirm this selective fat reduction, with progressive thinning of subcutaneous adipose tissue within two to four months of treatment. The efficacy and tolerance of cryotherapy have been clinically demonstrated in animal and human studies, including one conducted by my team.
With regard to the safety and tolerability of this technique, several publications, including two systematic reviews of the literature, have not identified any significant adverse events that could be attributed to cryolipolysis. Although cold temperatures are known to induce panniculitis (fat inflammation), no cases of subcutaneous nodule formation have been reported.
Expected side effects include temporary erythema (redness), ecchymosis (bruising) and transient numbness. These usually resolve within 14 days of treatment. Pigmentation spots may occur. These are prevented by interposing an interface between the skin and the cryode that delivers the cold.
To date, we have only used these techniques in the context of official institutional research.
However, as our department and the dermatology department are on call 24/7 for the IDF, we keep a watchful eye on any complications linked to cosmetic medicine/surgery.
